The closer one becomes to the flowers,
learning their messages, learning from them their needs, the deeper one
enters a world of beauty and fragrance that takes us one up into realms
of wonder and delight. To live with flowers, to love them is, in itself,
a path of yoga. Mother writes, "Flowers teach us the charm of silence
and also the self-giving that demands nothing in exchange." Mother also
writes, "Love of flowers is a valuable help for finding and uniting with
the psychic." Surrounding the Matrimandir will be twelve gardens
beginning with the garden of
'Existence', leading to the last
garden, the garden of
'Perfection'. The seventh garden will be
the garden of
'Wealth', represented by cactus
'Riches'
and water lilies,
'Wealth'. Like all the other gardens it will
be magnificent, with landscaped pools of water lilies and beds of cactus
in white sand. Here are Mother's words to me about the Gardens of the
Matrimandir. "It must be a thing of great beauty, of such a beauty that
when men enter they will say, "Ah, this is it!" and they will experience
physically and concretely, the significance of each garden. In the
garden of Youth they will know youth, in the garden of Bliss they will
know bliss, and so forth. " Mother then raised her hand and holding it
horizontally and moving it upwards in a spiral said, "One must know how
to move from consciousness to consciousness." Marvel at these beautiful
water lilies with their magical colours and, often enchanting
fragrances. Mother gave a 'General Significance' to many flowers,
indicating that all the colours, forms, sizes, etc. of a particular
flower would vibrate with the same message or ''significance. In
addition Mother often revealed the messages or 'significances' of
specific colours in a genera. In addition to the 'General Significance'
of water lilies,
Wealth, She gave significances to eight
different colours.
